HIGHEST SCORE IN CIF CHAMPIONSHP GAME (Large Schools) CA record

1998 @ University of the Pacific Sac-Joaquin CIF Title game  Elk Grove 77-22  Atwater.  Elk Grove had 850 yards of offense and their star RB was Lance Briggs who currently plays for the Bears in Chicago and Ryan Dinwiddie was the QB for the Elk Grove Thundering Herd who dominated Northern California and the Sacramento area in football that year going 14-0.  Atwater ended its amazing season at 12-1-1 after suffering its only loss to EG.

 

FIRST LEAGUES IN SOCAL (Late 1800’s and early 1900’s)

The first leagues in Southern California were established in the mid 1890’s so schools could play football and baseball.  There were several “free lance” schools but here were the first leagues ever recorded.

Channel League:  Oxnard, Santa Barbara, Santa Paula, Ventura

Citrus Belt League:  Chaffey, Redlands, Riverside, San Bernardino

Los Angeles League:  Los Angeles, LA Poly, Long Beach, Santa Monica, Pasadena

Orange County League:  Anaheim, Fullerton, Santa Ana

 

In 1937 the “Ventura Minor League” was formed

Carpinteria, Nordhoff, Moorpark, Simi, St. Claire (not sure if this was Santa Clara), Thatcher (Ojai), Villanova (Ojai)

 

MOST POINTS IN SINGLE GAME CIF Southern Section

Bloomington High in the Inland Empire beat Jarupa Valley (Mira Loma) for the most points scored in a single game in CIF history for 11 man football in a 108-20 win in 2005.

 

SELECTED INDIVIDUAL RECORDS CIF Southern Section

St. Bonaventure’s Lorenzo Booker scored a state record 137 TD’s in his career from 1999-2001

Valencia’s (Santa Clarita) QB in 2005 set a state record for career passing yards at 11,022

Royal’s (Simi) Tim Ross has the state defensive record for most fumbles caused in his career at 17 from 1988-1990

Hueneme’s Ronnie Jenkins’ had an incredible 619 yards rushing in one game vs. CI in 1995 which is a state and national record.  The national record has since been broken

Fullerton’s David Sepulveda had 26 receptions in a game vs. Buena Park in 1984

Oak Park’s Eric Affholter hit a 64 yard Field Goal against Carpinteria in 1982 which is still a CIF SS record
